Teissedre History
Cleo
Teissedre is a self-taught artist,
lecturer, and teacher. Working in a wide
range of medias, she has had shows in Arizona
and New Mexico.
Painting and
sculpting for 25 years, Teissedre has
always been interested in the Indians of the Southwest,
whose colorful history provides endless inspiration for
her art.
Teissedre is well
known throughout the United States for her
Decorative Tile and Indian Sculptures.
In the beginning,
it all started by having an original looking
product. In a three-car garage, in 1979, a tile company
named Teissedre Designs was formed. Before long, it became
necessary to rent two units in a strip mall, as the business
had started to expand. Teissedre Designs, Inc. has become
well known throughout the United States for decorative tile,
storytellers, pottery, and framed art. The company is owned
and operated in Tucson, Arizona.
The business was
sold in 1996 to Paula and Kris Wilder. Being an
artist herself, Paula was able to incorporate her artwork
into the existing line. Teissedre Designs, Inc. now rents
twelve units, in the same strip mall, and employs twenty-six
people. A majority of the employees are also artists and
are given the opportunity to contribute their ideas into
the different lines. Teissedre Designs, Inc. is like one
big family. We care about each other and want to see growth
and success in the other party.
The merchandise
from Teissedre Designs, Inc. is distinct.
You may see a pattern of quality and uniqueness that only
we can offer. The tile is hand glazed, the storytellers
are hand painted, and the pottery is hand drawn, except
for the Rock Art line. In the tile, sculpture and pottery
line, you will never see two pieces that are exactly alike,
because they are hand-done. We take a great deal of pride
in the quality of our merchandise. The standards we set
for quality control are simple, if we would not buy it
ourselves, it will not be shipped to a loyal customer.
Teissedre Designs,
Inc. has sales representatives all over the
country. Without the support and hard work of our
great sales people, we would not be where we are today.
